We will be meeting at Waves coffee shop in New Westminster @ 713 Columbia Street, (crossing street is Begbie Street).
We think it would be a good time to get out and practice some night photography maybe reflections and shadows.
We suggest you bring (if you have it, if not you can still get some cool shots) a tripod and even a shutter release.
Leigh will look up some tips and tricks for night photography to make sure everyone can learn and circulate that to members before the meeting (or even a few paper copies at the meeting. Columbia is well lit at night so we can really get good shots.

You've seen those image that are all black & white with just a small splash of colour. Derek will go over how to achieve this effect.
We will be reviewing and choosing our competition entries for "Altered Reality". See the blog entry for more details. We will also be doing some hands-on skills practice with an in-meeting workshop time.

Wes Bergen will be doing a session on “Correct Exposure for Digital Photography” for us.
Wes has taught Photoshop courses in local Continuing Ed centres, written Digital Imaging articles for the LGCC Photolog and CAPA's Canadian Camera magazine, and is a regular speaker at the APAC seminars.
We will also take an extended break for some pre-Christmas socializing.
Good news....our room at the community center has been rebooked for the coming year...please note for our first meeting we will be in Room 2 instead of Room 1 – but we will be back at the Community Center and probably back in our regular room after the initial meeting.
Don’t forget that you all had assignments over the summer. The plan is to show our assignment photos our first night back, so bring them in on a USB Flash drive and get ready to share.

Pacific Zone Print Competition selection
Don't forget to bring your entries for the Pacific Zone Print Challenge. Please see our below for all the entry details
Club entry shall be a maximum of 10 prints. Only one print per member may be entered with the exception of clubs with fewer than ten print makers. In this case two prints from the same person will be accepted.
If a photographer is a member of more than one club they may participate in only one Club’s entry. One print will be removed from one Club’s entry if this occurs. A coin toss will determine which Club will be penalized.
Prints may be B/W or colour. Subjects are the choice of the photographer.
Minimum print size: 80 square inches. Maximum print size is 16" x 20". Full Edge to Edge prints are permitted this year.
With the exception of 16" X 20" edge to edge prints, all prints must be matted using a single paper matt with the matting firmly attached to the back mounting in order to survive frequent handling. All prints must have a stiff backing. Note: Black or White Matts are permitted. Prints must not be framed. Entries received not complying with this rule will not be included for judging.
Outside dimensions of the matte and backing must be 16” x 20”. Anything smaller or larger will not be accepted. No foam core mounting, please.

Prints previously entered in the Pacific Zone Print Challenge are ineligible. The organizers have the final decision for acceptance of any prints.

For a change of pace, we are asking that you PRINT your assignment photos for this month. Please make sure your prints are at least 11 x 14 and mounted on some sort of firm backing.

This will be the selection night for the North Shore Challenge and the George Glennie Nature Photo Competition. Make sure your resized photos have been sent to rcphotos@telus.net by January 30th so that they can be included in the selection process. Members are welcome to have 3 photos considered for each of the competitions. They can be the same photos or different ones.

Halloween is just around the corner. If time permits, the club will go to the cemetary at Cumberland and Richmond streets for an evening photoshoot.
